Queerical Up North

'Queerical Up North' unites Nipissing University & Canadore College students, as well as community members, through proactive examinations of society and intersections of race, class, gender, sexual orientation, ablebodiness, geographical location, language and culture through the lens of sexuality. This examination and the name of the group both come out of an academic theory known as queer theory. We explore artistic mediums such as film, television, literature, creative writing, poetry, collage, and painting. We offer community-based educational workshops, seminars, and presentations to promote social justice and increased understanding of heterosexism and homophobia. We also host events such as movie nights and fundraisers.
